From the Word…

In 2 Corinthians 11:3 Paul writes his concern that the Christians living in the city of Corinth were drifting from the Lord. He says, “I am afraid that as the serpent deceived Eve by his cunning, your thoughts will be led astray from a sincere and pure devotion to Christ.” Wow, what a phrase – a sincere and pure devotion to Christ! Let’s unpack it. Devotion is a loving loyalty. Sincere means heart honesty. The word pure means unmixed. Put together they describe a heart that is totally, honestly and lovingly loyal to Jesus! None of us do this perfectly. That means we could all do it better. So what might be your next step? Happy evaluating.

This Sunday:    1 Corinthians 16:5-12  -  Five Ways to Protect and Build Unity

Unity is not uniformity. Uniformity in a church means that everyone dresses alike, talks alike, votes alike, thinks alike, or else! Unity means that we agree on what is important and love each other in the rest. According to our Lord, unity is one of the keys ways that prove that God really is among us. That means it is over the top important. Our passage is one of many that can help us protect and build true Christian unity.

Kingdom Passion!  -  (Why We Do What We Do!)

So we are moving toward planting a second service! Amazing, a bit scary, certainly exciting! Why would we do this at this time? I mean, we are a long ways from being that mid-sized church that we talk about in our vision. Well, the fact is that we won’t be able to become that mid-sized church (small enough to care, large enough to count) unless we find a way to fit more people in our current facility. And the only way to do that at this time is to plant another service. Would you do something? Simply add one line to your current prayers for Hill Country. The line is this: Lord, please grant us wisdom as we seek to reach more people through this second service. Thanks for your prayers.

Praise & Prayer

  • Praise that Alan Holthus has been given more steady work. Keep praying!
  • Prayer for Paul Culler. At this point the doctor believes he suffered a stroke some time back. Pray that physical therapy and some new medication will rapidly give Paul strength.
  • Pray for the salvation of souls and spiritual growth!!!!!
  • Pray for jobs for Liz Pratte, Shirley Culler

In His Grace,
